Spring is only a week away and with it comes the biggest celebration on the local fashion calendar – Telstra Perth Fashion Festival.

In its 20th year showcasing the best WA-made, national and international style offerings, TPFF will unite fashion lovers from all walks of life with a range of free and ticketed events.

From ready to wear to one-of-a-kind couture, this year’s Festival has something for everyone.


Intersection by South Metropolitan TAFE

Unencumbered by commercial limitations, students from South Metropolitan TAFE will let their creativity shine at Intersection. Fusing fashion with floristry, this unique show will feature pieces by 34 students who have collaborated to create over-the-top, avant garde creations brimming with blooms. Catch the work of these bright young sparks at a free show at 5pm on Saturday, September 8, at Fashion Central in Forrest Place.

Aboriginal Runway: Djurip Djenna Kooling

From the canvas to the catwalk, clothing collections adorned with an array of Australia’s finest Aboriginal art will take centre stage at Fashion Central for Aboriginal Runway: Djurip Djenna Kooling. Exploring indigenous culture through the language of fashion, this not-to-be-missed event will feature labels including Kirrikin and Magpie Goose. Both brands are proud to partner with indigenous artists such as Francine Kickett, Nancy McDinny and the Palngun Wurnangat Aboriginal Corporation (Wadeye) Art Centre. Aboriginal Runway: Djurip Djenna Kooling will take over Fashion Central at Forrest Place at 3pm on Saturday, September 8.

Bettina Management Model Search

Is there an ankle biter in your household with star quality? Help your little one unlock their potential by entering them into the Bettina Model Management Model Search. Responsible for launching the modelling careers of some of Australia’s most photographed pint sized personalities, Bettina represents talent up to 16 years of age. Visit Forrest Place between 11am and 5pm on September 7 and 8 to register, then return to see the finalists step into the spotlight at 4pm on Sunday, September 9. Winners will receive a 12 month contract with Bettina along with studio packages and talent development workshops.


Empire Rose: Rock Star Royalty

Expect the unexpected when Empire Rose hits the runway at Fashion Paramount at Optus Stadium at 9pm on Thursday, September 13. Previous Empire Rose shows have boasted everything from colourful smoke bombs carried along the catwalk to live birds of prey, so anything is possible for the infamous WA label’s 2018 Festival presentation.

From bold prints to sequins galore, bomber jackets and Studio 54 inspired styling, Rock Star Royalty promises to be a standout. Tickets are on sale now from Ticketmaster.

New Generation

Bringing together the next big things in WA fashion, New Generation will offer an unprecedented glimpse into what the future holds for the local fashion scene. Pushing the boundaries of colour, texture, silhouette and styling, Beth Moseley, Gabby Olivier, Rina Qiuan Chen, So Young Shin and Tahnee Harris will shake up the status quo with never-before-seen designs.
