Get back on good terms with winter and schedule a mid-year break.
Perth, our relationship with May has been worn down by torrential rain, freezing mornings and way-too-short days. We want this to work, we want to stick it out – but the outlook on our courtship with winter is as bleak and grey as the skies above. We’re reminiscing over our summer lovin’ with January and the dipped-in-chocolate days of April.
May, we don’t know just how to say this, but we need to take a break. Preferably down south. With lots of wine, cheese and comfy socks.
Fall back in love with winter this June with a long weekend away. Re-learn the loveable things about brisk days; like how cute you look in a pom-pom beanie and the inexplicable healing properties of hot chocolate.
Here’s our packing-guide for your lovers’ retreat.
The work week is over & you survived the train ride back home crammed between rained-on commuters. Put your suitcase in the boot, sink into your car seat and turn the radio up to a level that allows fellow passing motorists to sing-a-long. As you drive out of the city, things quickly start to look better. You’ve got your travel snacks in hand & a comfy set of PJs ready for your arrival. Winter is finally starting to put on a good show, and you for one are chuffed.
The clock ticks 9am and you ignore it. Pull up the covers and nestle back into bed; winter was made for sleep-in’s and you’re being reminded just how snug frosty Saturday mornings can be. When you do emerge from your cold-weather sanctuary, you’ve got dinner to look forward too. So, pout-up, pour yourself a glass of your favourite wine and get ready for the night ahead.
Between cosy mornings in bed and the overwhelming comfort of knit sweaters, your love affair with winter has reignited. You’ve learnt that the con’s of cold weather come packed with pro’s. Rain might restrict outdoor adventures, but it also provides a peaceful backdrop for an afternoon reading session. 15 degrees makes your favourite summer dress a distant memory, but your trusty Levi’s jeans leave you feeling like an off-duty fashion week model.
By the power vested in me, I hereby pronounce Winter and Perth harmoniously wed once more.
